Statement: I got started mushing when I realized my dog needed an outlet for her crazy wild zoomies while on leash. I first started out cross country skiing but after a few falls I knew I had to try and do it right. That following year I figured out how to run with her, joined a local group and got all the right gear and then the rest is history. Mari and I love going really fast together, as it's a great outlet for both of us, and allows us to leave all of our troubles behind. Apart from this, we like to do agility and play disc, have fun with friends, and work full time and a bit to pay for it all! This will be our first "international" racing experience, and we are super excited to start!</image:caption>

I had never seen such a thing before, and it was fun! My biggest dog at the time was an Azawakh, and wasn't truly sold on it. We borrowed dogs and had old crappy equipment and really knew nothing, but we started slogging it out a few times a week. Eventually we learned and got drive and pull forward! My next dog was a petite but Spicy Whippet, and she really upped our ante. I also, knew a bit more, so my training and foundation work was more solid. I skijored with the Whippet and Azawakh for 3 years solid before I got a 'real Mushing dog!' FeathR, my main leader is a Eurohound and she joined the ranks in fall of 2019. I knew how's to train much better by now, and what a difference with a dog that's genetically engineered to mush! Haha. In 2021, I got another Whippet, a super slick male named Shady. He's a beast in all ways, and took to the sport like a duck in water. I skijor with the 3 often, but since obtaining a sprint sled, I think that's our new love. Sirius, my Azawakh is ten this year and he still gets to recreate in the sport, skijoring and pulling my sled with Cruz, my recent addition. Cruz was looking for a job and ended up coming to me for a dog sport trial. Well, he's awesome so he never left! He's a 4 year old standard Xoloitzcuintle and has really switched on with his Mushing training/career in the last few weeks! Aside from Mushing and Dryland, we compete in agility, some disc, conformation, rally-o, field events (lure coursing) hopefully some dock diving this summer and we travel with the Extreme Dogs and The SuperDogs performance teams! When I'm not playing with the dogs or training or competing, I am a Realtor, work in a raw dog food plant, teach classes, ride my horses and my motorcycle. Come say Hi! We're thrilled to be participating this year.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Mushing: 2 dog skijor (5.5 miles per day) -- $50 Kennel Name: NA Years Mushing: 14 Number of Dogs: 4 Dog Breed/Background: Eurohound x2, Australian Working Kelpie x2 Lead Dog Names: Frakker and Jarvis Recent races: Run-a-way Dryland Derby, Whisky Run, Running Paws @ Riverbend, Oil Sands Classic Personal Sponsors: Turn 2 Chiropractic, Cedarwood and Animal Emergency Hospital, Dr. Monica Bruce Musher’s statement: I started in Mushing after living with working cow dogs who needed a a job in the winter when the cows were close to home. One lap around the trail and I was hooked. Since then I have taken on training many non-traditional mushing breeds including the original Australian Working Kelpies, my 2 Newfoundland Dogs and my sister's miniature Dachshund. When I finally got purpose bred mushing hounds, it felt like cheating. Just throw a harness on and those dogs go! If I'm not playing with the dogs, I'm working with them as a Chiropractor and Certified Animal Chiropractor. Everyday is filled with joy when you have the pest 4 legged patients in the world.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Brett Svetlik Board Member, SASI I thought it would be a great idea to volunteer my time with a nonprofit organization and dogsled race. I began running dog teams as a commercial guide in Colorado in the winter season of 07'/08'. What started as picking up poop and feeding a pack full of enthusiastic dogs turned into an obsession. I continued running teams as a guide in Montana where I met the Website Guru. I love dogs. I love dogs with a job. I'm not a fan of fleece lined dog booties. I like bringing people of all backgrounds and interests together for exciting things like mushing.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Musher: Shauna Alcock Racing: 1 dog skijor - amateur Kennel Name: Noodlesports Years Mushing: 2 Number of Dogs: 1 Dog Breed/Background: Bully Breed Mix (rescue) Lead Dog Names: Maribella Recent races: Riverbend Rollercoaster in Red Deer, AB and dryland mushing events in Alberta, Canada Personal Sponsors: Little Brown Dog Training Co.

I met Geneva who taught me the basic of scootering and the rest is history. Outside of mushing, my dogs and I enjoy hiking, frisbee competitions, and other dog sports like agility and rally obedience. My daughter Fae helps me a lot with the dog care and we spend a lot of time together just hanging out and doing chores, which is probably my favorite part of mushing.</image:caption>

Went back for a second and somehow ended up with a 3rd dog as well. Got talked into buying a dog sled and ended up doing really well in races with my three dogs. I was not supposed to be a dog sled racer; I moved to Arizona because I hate long winters. Now I've absolutely fallen in love with these sports and couldn't imagine my life without mushing.</image:caption>
