RACING IN THE FLATHEAD CLASSIC: 12 dog class, 40/40, Total: 80 miles

PERSONAL STATEMENT: Judy Johnstone gave us a real leader, let us try out a rig, gave us a sled, now I'm an addict. We slowly chased down/pestered people with dogs we liked until they sold us a few. I love purebred Siberians from WORKING LINES. I'm running this race in honor of my son, Noah, one of the best dog men I ever met. Noah loved Polebridge and the Rootbeer Classic because the prize was Rootbeer and for, "That cool, old store"! He always wanted our dogs to enter a longer race but with young kids and a regular day job, I never could put enough miles on the dogs. We've taken the year off to mourn and run his dogs. For Noah we are sponsoring a growler of rootbeer for any junior who finishes. Wanna go for a rip?

PERSONAL STATEMENT: I started mushing 20 years ago when I found a used dog sled in the paper. I ran my first race with 3 dogs in the 4 dog class. I was hooked ! I got a few more dogs, and ran sprint races for quite a few years, but decided I would like to spend more time on the sled, so I switched to longer distances. I have run Montana's 350-mile Race to the Sky twice, and the 100-mile Race to the Sky 4 times. I have also raced the 200 mile Eagle Cap Extreme twice and the 100 mile Eagle Cap Extreme 3 times. At one point our kennel had 42 dogs, but we are now down to 10 dogs, as I find myself getting older and slowing down a bit.

PERSONAL STATEMENT: Ever since I was a young kid I have helped with and watched Eagle Cap Extreme Sled Dog Race and then one year a musher, Bino Fowler, asked me to run his team for me, but I'd only ever been on a sled once, so I had to decline. Then, the next year I met another musher and we started talking about me running dogs, I said I wanted to get dogs, but would probably have to wait till after college, he then said he had the perfect dog for me. So, I convinced my parents and got my first sled dog. Then, while I was away in France, I talked my parents into another one. Now for this winter I have borrowed two and have been running a team of four.
